Building Experience in Engineering Co-Op Program

The Building Experience in Engineering Co‑Op Program places graduate students from Tufts’ School of Engineering into paid industry placements, letting them apply classroom concepts while building professional networks. Launched in the fall of 2024, the inaugural cohort involved thirty‑five scholars spanning fourteen engineering disciplines, each matched with an employer through guidance from a dedicated co‑op advisor and the university’s Career Center. Participants spend their weeks performing tasks that mirror full‑time roles: one intern at Walmart Robotics focused on computer‑aided design, prototype creation, and fabrication; a manufacturing engineer at Amazon Robotics supported product development from concept through production, handling quality issues and supplier coordination; a UX/UI co‑op at Abiomed used Figma to craft user interfaces, attended mentor reviews, and collaborated across teams. Eligibility requires enrollment in a graduate engineering program at Tufts, willingness to
