Lead, Quantum Technologies & Convergence

The position of Lead, Quantum Technologies & Convergence is based at the World Economic Forum, an independent, not‑for‑profit body that convenes public and private leaders to tackle global challenges. The role sits within the Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation and the Centre for AI Excellence, reporting to senior managers in both units, and works across the Forum’s global network of offices and Fourth Industrial Revolution Centres. In day‑to‑day work the Lead will steer the Quantum Economy Network and Technology Convergence programmes, guiding cross‑functional teams and external partners through clear communication, reporting and strategic assistance. Responsibilities include shaping quantum and AI activities that span multiple industries, coordinating Project Fellows, and helping to develop digital tools such as the Quantum Applications Hub and an AI‑Dashboard. The role also involves engaging Forum partners, curating multi‑stakeholder communities, and designing workshops, roundtables and high‑impact events to raise awareness and generate research inputs. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree from a recognised university in a cross‑disciplinary area such as economics, computer science, engineering, social sciences or communications, with a preference for experience in quantum technology or advanced computing. They need eight to ten years of relevant experience in technology‑focused organisations, demonstrable success in launching global initiatives, and solid knowledge of quantum technologies and other emerging fields. Additional strengths include a broad intellectual background, curiosity about systemic transformation, and familiarity with AI, robotics, space, climate and bio‑economy topics that intersect with technology convergence. The role operates in a matrix environment, offering the chance to collaborate with internal centres, external industry, government and academic stakeholders, and to influence policy and public discourse on a worldwide scale.
