Pyidaungsu 2025 Outlook Research Project – Call for Volunteer Researchers

The Pyidaungsu 2025 Outlook Research Project is a short‑term, volunteer‑driven initiative run by the Panglong Initiative, an organization dedicated to preserving the spirit of the historic Panglong Agreements through research on democracy, federalism and inclusive development in Myanmar. Over a period of two to three months, participants will help create brief policy reports that examine how political and conflict dynamics have evolved across the country’s states and regions since 2021 and look ahead to 2025. Volunteers will mainly conduct secondary research, gather and synthesize information from existing sources, and contribute written sections to a collective report. The work involves collaborating with other young researchers, following basic policy‑research methods, and ensuring that the final product reflects a clear analysis of the shifting political landscape. Applicants should be young people from any ethnic or regional background within Myanmar who possess a strong interest in research, policy formation, and social‑political change. No previous research experience is required, but candidates must be able to submit a résumé and a one‑page cover letter explaining their motivation; a sample of prior writing may be added if available. Internet access is assumed, as the only support provided is a modest contribution toward online costs. While the role offers no monetary stipend, participants gain practical experience in secondary research, exposure to policy‑analysis techniques, and the opportunity to be listed as a contributing author on the published report. The project also fosters networking with peers and professionals across the country, making it a valuable stepping stone for anyone eager to engage with Myanmar’s evolving political discourse.
