Laboratory Technician - Aquatic Ecotoxicology

As a Laboratory Technician in Aquatic Ecotoxicology you will join a multidisciplinary team that conducts GLP‑compliant field and laboratory studies, focusing on fish‑based ecotoxicology assays for regulatory approval processes. Your daily work will involve preparing, maintaining and running static, semi‑static and especially flow‑through test systems with various fish species across all life stages, following OECD guidelines. You will draft and revise SOPs, calibrate equipment, keep the laboratory tidy, and manage aquaria of different sizes to ensure high throughput. Tasks also include selecting and observing fish, recording biometric data, collecting biological samples such as blood, preparing chemical solutions, measuring physical‑chemical and physiological parameters, and entering results into specialised software. The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree in biology or a related scientific field and a valid animal‑handling certification; an LTK1 licence is mandatory, with LTK2 preferred. Candidates should ideally have two years of experience in a GLP‑regulated CRO environment, including fish testing and execution of OECD fish tests. Proficiency in English is essential, German is preferred, and French is considered an asset. Familiarity with flow‑through system maintenance and fish handling is expected, while knowledge of EIA is advantageous but not required.
