Compliance Officer - Sanctions

Swissquote, the Swiss leader in online banking that serves more than half a million clients through secure digital platforms, is looking for a Compliance Officer focused on sanctions within its Compliance Support and Sanctions service. In this position you will conduct sanctions due‑diligence on new and existing clients, analyse escalated sanctions hits from the bank’s screening processes, and evaluate exposure to sectoral sanctions, export controls, dual‑use goods and restricted industries. You will advise on whether to accept, reject or further investigate client relationships, support fellow compliance officers on sanction matters, and keep abreast of sanction‑related regulatory news to assess its effect on the bank’s clientele. Additional duties include drafting and updating sanctions policies, fine‑tuning screening systems, contributing to risk‑tolerance monitoring and key risk indicator reporting, handling ad‑hoc audit or regulatory requests, delivering targeted sanctions training, and preparing internal memoranda and presentations for management. The role requires an expert understanding of financial sanctions and solid knowledge of Swiss banking and financial legislation. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or economics, possess three to five years of experience in the financial sector, and demonstrate strong analytical, methodological and communication abilities in both French and English. Proficiency with PowerPoint, the capacity to prioritise heavy workloads, and a collaborative mindset suited to a dynamic, international setting are essential. Fluency in additional languages is considered a plus, and the position offers the chance to grow
