Senior Systems Engineer (Solid Rocket Motors and SAFing)

Destinus is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design and qualification of energetic subsystems such as solid rocket motors, warheads, auxiliary pyrotechnics and safety‑arming‑firing devices. The role sits within Destinus’ engineering group, which develops the critical technologies that power its Effectors and supports platform‑level qualification programmes. In this position you will work closely with leads from energetics, propulsion, mechanical, electronics and software to embed qualification requirements into a unified system‑level plan. You will steer the product through each stage of the certification process, create and keep up‑to‑date the Qualification Data Pack—including plans, procedures, requirements, verification matrices and reports—and shape test campaigns that meet NATO AECTP, STANAG and AOP standards. Interaction with end users and customers will be required to capture system and sub‑system needs, while you maintain traceability of every requirement and manage any re‑qualification or delta‑qualification activities. Supporting hazard and safety assessments and helping to establish a robust internal qualification discipline are also key parts of the job. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, systems or a related field and brings at least three years of systems‑engineering experience on energetic, propulsion, missile or aerospace projects in a defence or aerospace setting. You must be familiar with a gate‑driven V‑model lifecycle, have deep knowledge of NATO and comparable safety standards, and be proven at authoring qualification documentation in a regulated environment. Experience with configuration management, requirements traceability and hands‑on work across labs, integration and test sites is essential, as is fluency in English and willingness to travel between production, R&D and test locations. Additional language skills in German, French or Dutch are advantageous, and the role offers the chance to influence the growth of Destinus’ internal systems and qualification engineering capability while working across multiple sites.
