Student Assistant at the Chair of Energy Systems Analysis

The Chair of Energy Systems Analysis at ETH Zurich is seeking a Student Assistant to support research and administration. The chair, led by Prof. Dr Russell McKenna, focuses on optimizing and assessing complex systems and infrastructures, with an emphasis on environmentally and economically efficient design and operations. The role involves supporting the chair with various tasks, including literature reviews, data analysis, and reference management, as well as website design and management. The Student Assistant will also contribute to ongoing teaching and research projects, and support the strategic development of the Laboratory of Energy Systems Analysis at PSI. The position requires flexibility, with 15 hours of work per week during the semester and up to full-time work during semester holidays. The work location and hours can be adjusted to accommodate varying workloads and study commitments. To be considered for this role, applicants should be pursuing an MSc in a quantitative discipline, such as engineering, informatics, or economics. Strong organizational skills, motivation, and proficiency in English are essential. Experience with website design, wikis, and Microsoft Office, as well as technical programming skills, are advantageous but not required. An interest in energy transition and related topics is also desirable. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and well-organized individual who can work effectively in a flexible environment. The ability to speak and write clearly in English is necessary, and experience with energy system modeling, although not required, would be beneficial.
