The role is an academic leadership position within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. Additionally, there is an opportunity for a part-time Associate Dean role, focusing on advancing Indigenous initiatives and embedding Indigenous knowledges within the faculty. The main responsibilities involve providing leadership in advancing Indigenous initiatives, embedding Indigenous knowledges, and strengthening student success. This includes developing programs, initiatives, and curriculum, as well as building community partnerships. The role also involves contributing to the Faculty's strategic priorities and may include teaching, research, or other academic responsibilities. The Associate Dean will work part-time, up to two years with the possibility of renewal, and will be involved in strategic thinking and translating vision into outcomes. To qualify, applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with a strong cultural knowledge, lived experience, and community connection. Leadership experience in higher education, education, community, government, industry, not-for-profit, or related sectors is essential. A passion for advancing Indigenous student success, engagement, and participation is also required. Experience in developing programs, initiatives, curriculum, partnerships, or community-led outcomes is crucial. Strong relationship-building, consultation, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills are necessary. Strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into outcomes are also important. Nice-to-have skills include experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, leadership, or professional practice. A PhD, Masters by Research, or equivalent professional, leadership, community, and/or lived experience is welcomed but not essential.
