Financial Accountant

Swissquote, Switzerland’s leading digital bank with more than 1,500 employees across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join its Finance Department. Reporting to the Accounting Team Lead, the new hire will help preserve the bank’s high standards of financial accuracy, compliance and reporting excellence while supporting a fast‑moving environment that serves over a million clients worldwide. In day‑to‑day work the accountant will keep the general ledger up to date, prepare journal entries and compile various accounting schedules and reconciliations under Swiss or foreign GAAPs, including IFRS and ARB‑FINMA. The role involves preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual closings, taking part in half‑year and year‑end processes, and answering external auditors. Additional duties include investigating discrepancies, reviewing accruals, provisions and pre‑payments, ensuring correct treatment of banking transactions and financial instruments, and assisting with statutory, management and consolidated financial statements. The accountant will also handle regulatory filings for bodies such as the SNB or FINMA and contribute to accounting projects assigned by management. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance or economics and bring at least five years of comparable experience, preferably within banking. Fluency in both French and English, strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail are required. The applicant should be comfortable managing complex financial matters in a dynamic setting, possess excellent organization skills, and have a solid grasp of banking operations, IFRS and Swiss accounting rules. Proficiency in MS Excel is essential. Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, Python, Temenos T24 or OneStream is considered advantageous.
