Hyperscale Power is creating the power backbone for the AI data‑center era, delivering a full‑chain conversion from 13.8 kV, 35 kV medium‑voltage AC down to 800 V DC with ultra‑compact SiC‑based blocks. As a Grid Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the medium‑voltage grid‑interconnection part of this platform, shaping how the system meets utility requirements and ensuring safety, compliance and reliability across all target markets. Your daily work will involve designing the 13.8 kV, 35 kV grid‑interconnection system and its electromechanical/electronic components, preparing installation and maintenance documentation, and running experimental tests on transformers, protection devices and switchgear under realistic grid conditions. You will build and checkout prototypes, compile operational data for customer applications, and collaborate with Power Electronics, Firmware and Test & Field teams as well as external certification partners to meet standards such as IEEE 519, IEEE 1547, IEC 61850 and UL 1741. Responding to technical queries from customers and scaling the design for different grid codes will also be part of the role. The position requires a BSc or MSc in electrical engineering, power systems engineering or a comparable discipline. You must have hands‑on experience building and testing electromechanical/electronic prototypes, be familiar with the relevant grid codes and interconnection standards, and possess strong analytical abilities to design experiments, analyse results and document findings. The role also calls for a collaborative mindset, comfort engaging directly with customers and partners, and fluency in spoken and written English. The job is based at Hyperscale Power's headquarters in Egg b. Zürich, Switzerland, with an expectation of national and international travel. The team works closely with senior engineering leadership, offering visibility to the CTO and a chance to influence a breakthrough technology from early stages. Benefits include equity, a competitive salary, hybrid work arrangements and flexible working times, providing a supportive environment for professional growth. What the role asks for: - BSc or MSc in electrical engineering, power systems engineering or comparable field - Hands‑on experience building and testing electromechanical/electronic prototypes - Familiarity with grid codes and interconnection standards (e.g., IEEE 519, IEEE 1547, IEC 61850, UL 1741) - Strong analytical skills for experimental design and data analysis - Ability to work collaboratively with customers and partners - Fluent in spoken and written English - Experience with medium‑voltage grid‑interconnection or utility‑scale power electronics (nice‑to‑have) - German language skills (nice‑to‑have) - Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (nice‑to‑have) - Knowledge of additional standards (IEC 61400, IEC 62933, VDE‑AR‑N) (nice‑to‑have)
