Associate Specialist Functional Microbiome

Nestlé Research is seeking an Associate Specialist Functional Microbiome to work on‑site in Vers‑chez‑les‑Blanc, Switzerland, under a limited contract that runs until the end of 202 . In this role you will help shape scientific breakthroughs by advancing the understanding of microbial metabolites and turning functional microbiome science into practical applications for nutrition, health and pet care. Your daily work will involve designing and executing experiments that clarify how microbial metabolites influence host biology, moving research from simple correlations toward causal insights. You will translate these findings into business‑relevant concepts, collaborate closely with internal scientists, technicians, research assistants and external experts, and broaden the team’s network to capture emerging methods and partnership opportunities. High‑quality results will be communicated through publications, presentations and clear updates to key stakeholders. The position requires a PhD and recognized expertise in biochemistry, microbiology or metabolism, with a strong emphasis on microbial metabolites within microbiome‑host interactions. You must be able to apply systems biology, metabolomics and functional microbiome knowledge to generate actionable insights, lead projects, manage stakeholders and deliver robust research outcomes. Fluency in English and the ability to convey complex ideas with influence are essential, as is a collaborative, inquisitive and wellbeing‑focused mindset.
