Lab Technician, Molecular Biology

Adaptyv is a fast‑growing biotech firm that is creating an automated laboratory platform so AI agents can interact directly with physical experiments. The company supplies this infrastructure to leading biopharma groups, frontier AI labs and tech‑bio innovators, and is looking for a Lab Technician to join its Biology team and keep the protein‑engineering pipeline flowing. In this position you will run the core molecular‑biology and protein‑production workflows that feed the AI‑driven design cycle. Your day will involve carrying out cloning procedures such as PCR, Golden‑Gate or Gibson assembly, followed by transformation and colony screening. You will express proteins in bacterial or mammalian hosts, purify them and perform quality‑control checks using gel or capillary electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing and SDS‑PAGE. Additional duties include running biophysical assays (binding kinetics, thermostability, etc.), preparing reagents and buffers according to SOPs, operating automated liquid‑handling equipment, tracking samples and consumables, and documenting every step to guarantee reproducibility and traceability. You will also help troubleshoot and scale these workflows as demand increases. The role requires a solid academic background and practical experience. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life‑Science Engineering or a closely related discipline, and have at least one year of hands‑on laboratory work in molecular biology. Proficiency with core techniques, PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, DNA purification and gel or capillary electrophoresis, is essential. Experience with protein expression, purification and downstream characterization (e.g., BLI, SPR, ELISA, thermostability assays) is a strong plus, as is familiarity with laboratory automation or liquid‑handling systems. The team works in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput environment, so strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail are valued. The position is full‑time, on‑site in Lausanne, Switzerland, with an immediate start and rolling application review.
