Laelaps AI is a company focused on developing intelligent software for physical security, enabling robots and sensors to handle critical tasks autonomously. The role of Software Engineer, Robot Autonomy (Reliability & Test Infrastructure) is crucial for ensuring the reliability and safety of their robotics systems. This position involves managing the entire process from code commit to deployment on robots, ensuring that every build is thoroughly tested and safe for real-world use. The main day-to-day responsibilities include managing the release pipeline, which involves automated tests, simulation at scale, and staging robots. The engineer will also develop and maintain a GPU-backed simulation environment, scenario libraries, and regression suites. Additionally, they will work on hardware-in-the-loop rigs, failure injection tests, and field incident reproduction. Ensuring reproducibility and acceptance criteria are also key aspects of the role, turning product and customer requirements into measurable tests. To qualify for this role, candidates must have at least 4 years of experience in test, validation, reliability, SRE, or platform engineering on a product that has shipped to customers. Experience with complex systems at scale, such as autonomous driving or drones, is essential. Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++, along with solid CI/CD and containerized infrastructure skills, is required. Hands-on experience with a robotics simulator, preferably Isaac Sim, is also necessary. Comfort with owning cloud infrastructure and GPU orchestration, as well as hardware literacy, is crucial. Nice-to-have skills include experience with ROS 2, hardware-in-the-loop rigs, and fleet telemetry and observability tools like Grafana and Prometheus. Familiarity with functional safety standards, on-prem or air-gapped deployments, and experience being on call for hardware in the field are also beneficial. The role is based in Zurich, offering a collaborative environment with a strong founding team and a mission-driven culture. What the role asks for: - 4+ years in test, validation, reliability, SRE or platform engineering on a product that shipped to customers. - Experience with a complex system at scale: autonomous driving, drones, industrial automation, medical devices or similar. - Strong Python and/or C++. - Solid CI/CD and containerised infrastructure skills. - Hands-on with a robotics simulator run as production infrastructure: Isaac Sim preferred, Gazebo, MuJoCo or equivalent accepted. - Comfortable owning cloud infrastructure and GPU orchestration. - Enough hardware literacy to read a timing problem or a flaky sensor trace. - Nice-to-have: ROS 2. - Nice-to-have: Hardware-in-the-loop rigs and bench automation.
