The role of a Senior Rail Signalling Engineer involves developing safety-critical software for both vehicles and track-side systems, ensuring compliance with standards such as EN 50126, 50128, 50716, and 50129. The engineer will also implement new features in signalling products, with a focus on the NOVA Pro CBTC System, and develop software for automated, driverless vehicle operation. The main day-to-day responsibilities include supporting assessments and state-specific approvals, preparing and maintaining Requirement Specifications and Architecture and Design documents, and integrating code according to software component design. Additionally, the role involves conducting integration tests of different subsystems upon the software release of products. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a strong knowledge of Railway Signalling principles and practices, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in signalling. Proficiency in railway standards such as EN 50126, 50129, 50128, 50716, TS 50701, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and IEC61131-3 is essential. Experience with Requirement Management using IBM Doors Next Generation (DNG) Tool and familiarity with the principles of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) are also required. Nice-to-have skills include functional programming with FBD and/or ST languages, with high-level programming skills in C/C++/Python being a plus. Familiarity with Version Control tools like GIT, SVN, and good communication skills to work harmoniously within a team are also beneficial. The role is based in a team-oriented environment where the ability to analyze and solve problems, with a commitment to meeting deadlines, is highly valued.
