Principal Quantum Systems Architect

The Principal Quantum Systems Architect role at a company focused on quantum systems involves defining the architecture for scalable quantum control and readout. The main responsibilities include driving architectural direction for heterogeneous compute platforms, establishing system partitioning strategies, and leading collaborations with third-party quantum hardware partners in Europe. The role also involves guiding platform evolution toward scalable, production-ready quantum systems and making system-level trade-offs. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional hardware/software co-design initiatives and working in an "AI-first" environment to accelerate discovery through both hardware and software development. The role requires a deep understanding of system architecture fundamentals, including compute, memory, interconnects, data movement, and hardware/software partitioning. The ideal candidate must have a Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, along with industry or research and development experience. Alternatively, a Master's or Bachelor's Degree in these fields with relevant industry experience is acceptable. Proven experience in designing complex compute or signal-processing architectures and familiarity with quantum control, readout, or error correction concepts are essential. Proficiency in FPGA, ASIC, or custom accelerator technologies, as well as experience with cryogenic or constrained computing environments, is also required.
