Execution Lead (Product Shipping & Delivery) in Startup

The Execution Lead (Product Shipping & Delivery) role at a startup is focused on ensuring that products, features, and initiatives are shipped efficiently, even when the founder is occupied. The company specializes in delivering products and features, and the role is crucial for maintaining the company's momentum and progress. The main day-to-day responsibilities include owning all shipping initiatives from start to finish, tracking and resolving blockers, and pushing teams to complete tasks rather than perfect them. This involves chasing decisions, preparing options, escalating issues when necessary, and making pragmatic calls. The role also involves breaking work into small, shippable slices and leading by example through action, not just discussion. Additionally, the lead is responsible for early distribution and traction initiatives, including launches, onboarding, and visibility experiments. To excel in this role, candidates must have a strong bias for action, be comfortable pushing people (including the founder), and have a startup-hardened generalist mindset. Technical literacy is essential, as is a personal sense of responsibility for outcomes and energy derived from completing tasks. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on shipping rather than waiting for perfect input. Nice-to-have skills include the ability to work in a dynamic environment and the capability to lead by doing. The startup environment is likely fast-paced and requires adaptability. The role is not for those who need extensive analysis or meetings to explain a vision. What the role asks for: - A strong bias to action - Comfort pushing people, including the founder - Startup-hardened generalist - Technical literacy - Personal responsibility for outcomes - Energy from finishing things - Escalation within 24-48 hours if blocked - No disappearing when waiting for input - Optimizing for shipping, not elegance - Interrupting the founder when shipping is at risk
