Senior Manager – Data Architect – Artificial Intelligence & Data

The position of Senior Manager – Data Architect – Artificial Intelligence & Data is based in Zurich, Basel and Geneva, working for Deloitte AI & Data. The practice assists organisations in turning large volumes of information into actionable insight, using analytics, modern platforms and AI techniques to drive growth and efficiency. In this role you will guide senior client leaders in choosing appropriate architectural strategies and oversee the creation of enterprise‑wide solutions. Core duties include shaping the overall data architecture for complex environments that span multiple systems such as master‑data, CRM, ERP and cloud warehouses, as well as designing and delivering scalable cloud‑based data platforms. You will define data models, integration pipelines and DevOps processes, direct on‑shore and offshore engineering groups, and craft integrated solutions that connect data platforms with AI or other business applications. Additionally, you will represent the practice at industry events, nurture internal expertise, and mentor junior colleagues. The ideal candidate brings at least eight years of experience as a Data Architect, having led teams that built sophisticated cloud ecosystems. A solid engineering background with hands‑on delivery of data platforms on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Databricks or Snowflake is required. Proficiency in evaluating architectural choices, influencing strategy and persuading both business and IT audiences is essential, as is familiarity with coding‑quality tools like SonarQube and AI‑assisted IDEs. Experience across relational, NoSQL and graph databases is mandatory. Desirable skills include packaging solutions with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform, knowledge of ETL/ELT tools like Informatica or DBT, and certifications in DAMA, TOGAF or similar. Candidates should demonstrate strong client‑facing presence, leadership, commercial insight and the ability to juggle multiple high‑tempo activities while maintaining a strategic view. The role offers a flexible work pattern ranging from 80 % to full‑time.
