Artefact is a next‑generation strategy and data consulting firm that helps organisations transform through data and AI. By blending top‑tier strategy consulting with deep expertise in digital, analytics and engineering, Artefact creates measurable business impact for global leaders such as Samsung, L'Oréal, Orange and Sanofi. The Romandie hub in Geneva/Lausanne sits at the centre of the company's growth, supporting clients with AI strategy, governance, digital road‑maps and new business‑model design. The position of Senior Technical Consultant / Senior AI Engineer combines hands‑on engineering with client advisory. You will steer the design and delivery of AI‑driven solutions, translating business challenges into technical road‑maps and ensuring that projects move from concept to reliable production. The role requires guiding multidisciplinary teams, presenting to senior stakeholders, managing risks and trade‑offs, and delivering measurable outcomes for Artefact's customers. Day‑to‑day activities include owning solution architecture, defining data, ML/LLM, API and security layers, and making build‑or‑buy decisions. You will lead complex proof‑of‑concepts and pilots, scope and prototype AI/ML use cases (including LLMs, generative AI, retrieval‑augmented generation and fine‑tuning) and turn successful pilots into scalable products. Advanced programming tasks involve building and evaluating ML/DL/LLM models with Python libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace and LangChain, covering prompt engineering, LoRA fine‑tuning, vector search and safety guardrails. Cloud and MLOps responsibilities span designing and operating solutions on Azure, GCP or AWS, implementing CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, model serving, feature stores, vector databases and monitoring. You will also enforce data‑privacy, model‑risk and responsible‑AI governance, mentor engineers and consultants, conduct code reviews, and contribute to pre‑sales proposals, thought‑leadership assets and public talks. The candidate profile stresses an "engineer first, consultant second" mindset with a proven track record of shipping production‑grade AI systems. Required experience ranges from five to eight plus years in data, machine‑learning or AI engineering roles, including end‑to‑end delivery of production AI solutions. Technical must‑haves are expert‑level Python, solid software‑engineering practices (testing, packaging, CI/CD) and mandatory SQL knowledge. Familiarity with Java, Scala or TypeScript is mentioned as an additional, but not essential, skill. Beyond the core requirements, the role benefits from Artefact's vibrant Romandie office, offering exposure to high‑profile clients and the chance to shape the firm's AI offering. The position also values experience with LLMs and generative AI, cloud‑platform expertise, and the ability to lead and mentor teams while contributing to business development and thought‑leadership initiatives. What the role asks for: - 5–8+ years data/ML/AI engineering experience - End‑to‑end production AI delivery experience - Expert Python proficiency - Solid software engineering (testing, packaging, CI/CD) - SQL proficiency - Java/Scala/TypeScript knowledge (nice-to-have) - Cloud platform experience Azure/GCP/AWS (nice-to-have) - Team leadership and mentoring (nice-to-have)
