Mechanical Engineer

After a recent $200 million Series B round that valued the company at $1.4 billion, the firm is expanding its Airframe team to deliver mission‑critical UAV platforms. In this Mechanical Engineer role you will create and prototype UAV airframes and related subsystems, balancing durability, efficiency and performance. You will own system‑level constraints such as thermal management, weight budget, cost and environmental sealing, and you will collaborate with electrical, software and industrialisation groups to integrate sensors, payloads and electronics. Your work will include rigorous testing, risk identification, and the development of validation tools like test benches or calculation scripts. You will also manage delivery packages, drive production with suppliers, focusing on plastic injection moulding and precision machining, and keep all design and test documentation up to date in Confluence. The position requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline. You must have a proven track record of designing and prototyping mechanical systems, preferably in UAV, robotics or defence contexts. Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks is essential, as is a solid grasp of high‑precision machining and plastic injection moulding processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed to document complex concepts and lead cross‑functional discussions, and you must be fully committed to Harmattan AI's mission and growth objectives. Experience with structural and thermal analysis software (FEA) is a valuable addition, as is familiarity with UAV‑specific design challenges.
