Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead

The Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead will join the team behind Nexthink Assist, the AI‑native solution that brings real‑time, conversational assistance to employees, and will be responsible for designing and constructing the high‑performance backend that powers this product. In this role you will create and scale distributed backend platforms that handle millions of interactions, shepherd features from concept through deployment and monitoring, and craft low‑latency APIs for AI‑driven conversations. You will write cloud‑native Java services, manage AWS‑based deployments, and work with container technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes or ECS. Ensuring resilience, fault tolerance and compliance in high‑throughput environments is essential, as is close collaboration with product managers, infrastructure engineers and other stakeholders. You will also guide the technical execution of projects, break down complex requirements into clear tasks, mentor junior engineers and act as the primary technical liaison for cross‑functional partners. The position requires at least eight years of professional backend engineering experience, strong proficiency in modern Java (version 17 or newer), and a proven track record of building and scaling systems for large‑scale or real‑time use cases. You must be comfortable with cloud‑native architectures on AWS, containerization, orchestration, and distributed data stores such as Redis or Apache Kafka. Experience with large language model integration, high‑availability design, observability (logging, monitoring, tracing) and fluent English communication are also mandatory. Additional assets include familiarity with Java frameworks like Micronaut or Spring, Python programming, performance tuning for high‑throughput workloads, and knowledge of GitOps, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code.
