Tech Lead – Testing Engineer

The position of Technical Lead – Testing Engineer is centered on shaping how a Physical AI firm validates its sophisticated robotic platforms. You will be responsible for steering the overall testing approach that confirms hardware reliability and performance, from single‑actuator checks to full‑system integration, while guiding a group of test engineers. Your daily work will blend strategic planning with hands‑on execution. You will craft and maintain the complete test roadmap for structural, mechatronic and sensing components, set standards and reporting formats, and decide on the architecture of test rigs and automation tools. Designing and commissioning benches, selecting and calibrating sensors, writing Python or LabVIEW scripts, and processing data with signal‑processing and statistical methods will be routine. You will also produce clear test reports, highlight failures, and feed insights back into design reviews, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with mechanical, electrical, firmware and systems teams as well as external labs. The role requires a master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics or a related discipline, plus at least seven years of hardware testing experience and three years in a senior technical‑lead or comparable capacity. Candidates must have a proven record of building test benches for electro‑mechanical systems, strong Python automation skills, deep familiarity with sensors such as torque cells, encoders and thermocouples, and the ability to translate test data into actionable design recommendations. Practical workshop competence and experience drafting test plans and qualification criteria are also essential. Additional assets include experience with motor or actuator characterization, familiarity with LabVIEW or pytest automation frameworks, knowledge of measurement‑uncertainty analysis, ROS/ROS2 exposure, CAD‑based fixture design, and a background in robotics, automotive or aerospace testing environments. Demonstrated success in expanding a test engineering function within a fast‑paced hardware team is also valued.
