Laboratory Technician Position in Pharmacology

The Pharmacology Unit at the University of Fribourg's Faculty of Science and Medicine investigates how metabolic and redox signalling operate in health and disease. Within this group, the Zuhra team studies endogenously produced cyanide as a novel gas‑transmitter and its influence on cellular metabolism and signalling pathways. We are looking for a motivated laboratory technician on a one‑year fixed‑term contract (potentially extendable to three years, funded by the SNF) to support the research. Daily work will involve routine biochemical and molecular‑biology tasks such as preparing solutions, measuring pH, performing Western blots, maintaining cell cultures and handling in‑vivo mouse or rat models. Experience or strong interest in confocal microscopy and cellular bioenergetics is considered an added benefit. The position offers a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with modern facilities and training opportunities. What the role asks for: - 3–5 years lab experience with basic biochemistry/molecular biology techniques - CFC/BSc (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or related field - Experience with in‑vivo mouse or rat models - FELASA Category B accreditation (EU A/C/D) or Swiss Module 1/LTK1 - Strong organization, precision and reliability - Good written and spoken English - Knowledge of French or German (nice‑to‑have) - Experience with confocal imaging (nice‑to‑have)
