Execution Lead (Product Shipping & Delivery) in Startup

The Execution Lead (Product Shipping & Delivery) role at a Startup is focused on ensuring that products, features, and initiatives are shipped consistently, even when the founder is occupied. The company specializes in delivering products and features to market efficiently. The main day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing all shipping initiatives from start to finish. This involves tracking what is blocked, identifying the reasons and responsible parties, and unblocking execution by chasing decisions, preparing options, and escalating issues when necessary. The role also requires breaking work into small, manageable pieces and pushing teams to complete tasks rather than aiming for perfection. Additionally, the Execution Lead will own early distribution and traction initiatives, including launches, onboarding, and visibility experiments. To excel in this role, candidates must have a strong bias for action, be comfortable pushing people (including the founder), and have a generalist mindset with technical literacy. They should feel a personal responsibility for outcomes and derive energy from completing tasks. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on shipping rather than waiting for perfect input. Nice-to-have skills include the ability to lead by doing rather than just talking. The role is based in a startup environment, which may offer a dynamic and fast-paced work culture. The team is likely to be small and agile, with a focus on continuous momentum and forward progress. What the role asks for: - Strong bias to action - Comfortable pushing people (including the founder) - Startup-hardened generalist - Technically literate - Feels personal responsibility for outcomes - Gets energy from finishing things - Escalates if blocked for more than 24–48 hours - Does not disappear when waiting for input - Optimizes for shipping, not elegance - Interrupts the founder when shipping is at risk
