BASEL OFFICE - Senior Accountant (River)

Viking, a worldwide leader in experiential travel that operates more than a hundred vessels across rivers, oceans and continents, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Basel office. The company, celebrated for delivering intellectually stimulating journeys, seeks a professional who will safeguard the precision of its financial data and aid in compliance efforts. In this position the incumbent will manage the general ledger, drive month‑end and year‑end closing activities, and prepare and review journal entries and accruals. Daily duties include performing account reconciliations, conducting financial analysis, and reporting variances against prior periods and budget forecasts. The role also involves supporting internal‑control documentation, coordinating with internal and external auditors, and producing quarterly reports while correcting ERP system discrepancies. Collaboration with other Viking units will require cost and profitability studies, participation in user‑acceptance testing for ERP enhancements, and mentoring junior staff members. Candidates must bring at least five years of accounting or finance experience, a solid grasp of accounting theory (IFRS knowledge is a plus), and preferably hold a CPA or ACCA credential. Prior work in an audit firm or a SOX‑controlled environment is advantageous. Fluency in English, meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational habits, the ability to meet deadlines, excellent interpersonal communication, and advanced Excel skills are essential. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management is required. Additional assets include experience at a publicly listed corporation and familiarity with D365 or OneStream platforms.
