We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join Volpi Group's development team at our Dietikon site. Volpi Group creates cutting‑edge instrumentation for human diagnostics and life‑science applications, supplying Fortune‑500 customers with optoelectronic systems and a full suite of high‑quality services. In this role you will design and implement embedded software for optomechanical devices used in diagnostic and life‑science equipment. Your daily work includes shaping the software architecture, writing and testing code for micro‑controllers, integrating sensors, actuators and communication protocols, and defining module interfaces. You will organise development tasks within sprint cycles, collaborate with cross‑functional teams to capture requirements, and mentor both internal and external developers while helping to improve our development processes and toolchains. The position requires extensive experience and solid academic background. You must have more than ten years of work on ARM‑based embedded software, a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related discipline, and a deep grasp of software‑architecture principles. Strong coding abilities in C, C++ and Python are essential, together with a readiness to pick up additional languages when needed. You should have a proven track record of writing drivers for peripherals such as sensors, motor controllers or cameras, be able to work autonomously while juggling several tasks, and demonstrate a high level of personal responsibility and reliability. Fluency in spoken and written English is also required. Additional assets include experience with medical or IVD products, ideally following IEC 62304, knowledge of real‑time operating systems (Zephyr is a plus), and familiarity with Embedded Linux. An openness to emerging technologies and a commitment to continuous learning are also valued.
