The R&D Engineer role involves designing, developing, and maintaining test infrastructures for research and development activities. The engineer will focus on low-voltage (LV) three-phase systems, ensuring compliance with IEC and UL standards. This role is part of the Electrification, Smart Power Division in Quartino, Switzerland. The main responsibilities include designing and maintaining electrical test infrastructures, developing and validating embedded firmware, and conducting functional, performance, and safety testing. The engineer will also collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to define requirements, solve technical challenges, and maintain accurate technical documentation. To qualify, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Experience in embedded firmware development using C for microcontroller- or microprocessor-based systems is essential. Knowledge of low-voltage three-phase electrical systems and experience in electrical design, testing, validation, or commissioning of electrical and electronic systems are also required. Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial automation concepts is necessary. The role demands strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work in a hands-on laboratory environment. Professional proficiency in English is a must. Nice-to-have skills include additional language proficiency. The role is based in Quartino, Switzerland, and is an onsite position.
