Senior Risk Officer - Natgas

The Senior Risk Officer - Natgas role is part of the Risk team at Gunvor, reporting to the Head of Risk Officers Power & Gas. The company is involved in commodity trading, including natural gas. The main focus of the role is to measure, analyze, and monitor trading positions and P&L, as well as to challenge assumptions made by the front office. The officer will also develop and maintain risk reporting and analytics tools to support decision-making and risk management. The day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing and modeling market risk for all trading activities, assessing and monitoring physical and financial trades, and analyzing mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, and P/L results daily. The officer will also develop and maintain risk reporting and analytics, coordinate and review deal and price in the trading system, and monitor deal capture, trading limits, and risk policy requirements. Additionally, the role involves providing critical thinking around risk reporting processes, maintaining and enhancing risk models, and communicating effectively with various teams including Front Office, Operation, Trade Support, Finance, and IT. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a university degree, preferably in Computing, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or Finance from a top-ranked university. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the commodity trading business, preferably within a major trading house or utility company, is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VBA, and other data analysis tools is essential, with knowledge of Python and SQL being a plus. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Experience in the valuation of European Natgas positions and assets, as well as a strong understanding of FX positions, is also required. Nice-to-have skills include experience in booking and operating assets, knowledge of weather products and bio-methane, and proficiency in French or any other European language.
