Senior Research Engineer

Thomson Reuters Labs, the innovation hub behind the company’s legal, tax, accounting and government products, is looking for a Senior Research Engineer to help shape AI‑driven tools that change how professionals work worldwide. The role sits within a global, interdisciplinary team that blends research and engineering to accelerate the firm’s digital transformation. In this position you will apply modern software practices across the full development lifecycle, constructing and testing high‑quality code while building large‑scale data pipelines that enable researchers to train novel machine‑learning models. You will design performant systems for online delivery, collaborate closely with cross‑functional and remote partners, and drive end‑to‑end delivery in a fast‑paced, agile environment. Communication and the willingness to experiment with new technologies are essential. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, at least five years of software engineering experience and two years on a machine‑learning product. Deep expertise in Python, clean and well‑tested code, cloud development, Agile, CI/CD, ModelOps/MLOps and experience turning research into production are required. Familiarity with NLP tasks, additional languages such as Java or Rust, and a strong interest in real‑world impact are valued.
