Hospitalist Physician - Remote

The position is a contract role for a Hospitalist Physician who will support a remote project that aims to improve inpatient care data, clinical documentation and the quality of medical records used for AI training. The employer, a health‑technology organization, relies on seasoned clinicians to ensure that the information fed into its models meets rigorous clinical standards. Each day the physician will examine electronic patient files, including FHIR‑formatted data and narrative notes, to confirm that diagnoses, findings and billed services are fully supported by the source material. The work involves checking histories of present illness, past medical histories, assessments and treatment plans for completeness and consistency, flagging any gaps, contradictions or unsupported statements, and delivering concise feedback to the project team. The role also contributes to quality‑assurance activities by highlighting systematic issues and communicating findings clearly. Applicants must hold an MD or DO credential and be board‑certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Hospital Medicine. Recent experience (within the past two years) as an inpatient or hospitalist is required, together with a solid grasp of hospital documentation practices and workflow. Candidates need proven ability to review clinical notes, interpret FHIR‑based structured records, and spot discrepancies with a high degree of precision. Strong written and spoken communication skills are essential for reporting observations and collaborating with remote colleagues. Additional assets include prior involvement in chart or documentation reviews, exposure to clinical documentation improvement initiatives, and familiarity with utilization review, coding or broader quality‑assurance processes. Experience with electronic health‑record systems, work across several inpatient specialties, and a history of evaluating health data for compliance are valued. The role is fully remote, allowing independent work while staying connected to a distributed team focused on data excellence.
