The role of an Industrial Vision & Software Engineer at Oratek involves solving complex technical challenges and transforming ideas into robust industrial solutions. This position integrates industrial vision, software engineering, and automation, covering everything from selecting the right optics and illumination to developing inspection algorithms, operator interfaces, and machine software. The main responsibilities include designing and developing complete industrial vision solutions integrated into automated machines. This involves the entire lifecycle of vision applications, from feasibility studies and hardware selection to software development, validation, and commissioning. Tasks also include analyzing customer requirements, designing machine vision solutions, selecting and integrating cameras, optics, lighting, and vision sensors, and developing 2D and 3D image processing algorithms. Additionally, the role involves designing and deploying AI-based inspection algorithms, calibrating, validating, and optimizing vision systems, and commissioning, tuning, and troubleshooting machines. The engineer will also analyze false rejects and process instabilities, implement corrective actions, and define validation procedures. To excel in this role, candidates must have 3 to 7 years of experience in developing industrial vision systems for special-purpose machinery, industrial automation, or custom machine manufacturing. They should have hands-on experience with tools like Keyence, Cognex, or HALCON, and a strong understanding of optics, illumination, industrial cameras, and image acquisition. Proficiency in Python development and industrial software (PLC) and modern web application development is essential. The role requires fluency in English and a commitment to working 100% on-site in Ecublens (VD). Nice-to-have skills include experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, 3D vision, React or TypeScript, C++, and Git or CI/CD. The location in Ecublens (VD) offers a dynamic, small-company environment with state-of-the-art technologies and competitive salary and social benefits.
