The role of Deferred Compensation Specialist at Julius Baer involves managing the end-to-end administration of the company's global deferred compensation programs. Julius Baer is a leading Swiss wealth management group, known for its expertise in private banking and wealth management services. The main day-to-day responsibilities include strategic planning and governance support, where the specialist will review and enhance existing deferred compensation frameworks. This involves proposing improvements based on regulatory developments, market practices, or internal feedback, and preparing clear, accurate, and well-structured submissions for the Executive Board and the Board of Directors. The specialist will also lead the full lifecycle of deferred compensation plans, ensuring precision, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and strategic objectives. Additionally, the role involves acting as the primary point of contact for employees, executives, and cross-functional partners, providing clear guidance on award mechanics, tax implications, and policy interpretation. Operational tasks include transactions processing, data validation, and troubleshooting to ensure daily operations run smoothly. The specialist will also ensure strict compliance with international tax regulations, coordinate annual remuneration disclosures, and support audit readiness across all operating entities. The must-have requirements for this role include a higher education qualification in business, finance, or law, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in equity or deferred compensation design and administration, preferably within financial services or a multinational corporation. The candidate must have a solid grasp of cash- and equity-based deferral mechanisms, including performance conditions, vesting rules, post-termination delivery scenarios, and market practices. Knowledge of tax and legal considerations (Swiss and international), as well as employment and regulatory issues related to deferral programs, and financial reporting impacts (e.g. IFRS2) is essential. Technical proficiency in HR Information Systems (esp. Workday), equity tracking software (esp. EquatePlus), and related reporting tools, as well as advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel modeling, is required. Fluency in German and English is also a must. Nice-to-have skills include the ability to drive continuous improvement through technology enablement, evaluating, implementing, and optimizing external platforms to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve user experience. The role offers the opportunity to work in a compact, high-performing team that oversees Deferred Compensation, Global Mobility, and Business Travel Compliance, providing broad exposure across reward, tax, compliance, and finance. The team is part of a respected global private banking leader, offering a dynamic and challenging work environment.
