The role is an Electrical Engineer specializing in robotics at CDDS. The company focuses on developing C-UAV platforms, which are critical for Europe's security landscape. The main day-to-day responsibilities involve designing and developing electronic hardware for these platforms. This includes creating and testing electronic circuits and PCBs for flight controllers, sensors, and embedded systems. The engineer will also develop software packages for embedded systems and interfaces, integrate and calibrate various sensors, and implement communication systems for reliable telemetry. Additionally, the role involves conducting testing and validation of hardware under real-world conditions and documenting designs for smooth integration with mechanical and software systems. The must-have requirements include proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design using tools like Altium, KiCad, or Eagle. Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative testing is essential, as is familiarity with embedded systems and interfaces such as MCUs, SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN. Solid programming skills in Python and/or C++ are required, along with the ability to work autonomously and solve complex technical challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication in English is necessary, as is an MSc in Electrical Engineering or a similar field with strong academic records, preferably from ETH Zürich or the University of Applied Sciences. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with flight controllers and avionics stacks like PX4, ArduPilot, and custom FCs. Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation, electrical components for multicopters, and sourcing electrical components is also beneficial. The location is Hardbrücke in Zurich, with an on-site work environment. The team is described as highly technical, ambitious, and hands-on, working in a fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and real-world testing opportunities. What the role asks for: - Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design (e.g. Altium, KiCad, Eagle) - Proficiency in rapid prototyping and iterative testing - Familiarity with embedded systems and interfaces (MCUs, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) - Solid programming skills in Python and/or C++ - Ability to work autonomously and solve complex technical challenges - Excellent written and verbal communication in English - MSc in Electrical Engineering or similar field with strong academic records (ETH Zürich or University of Applied Sciences) - Nice-to-have: Familiarity with flight controllers and avionics stacks (PX4, ArduPilot, custom FCs)
