Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer (CDD 1 year)

Sécheron Hasler Group, a Swiss engineering firm with more than a century of experience, designs high‑power electrical and electronic equipment that powers railways, renewable‑energy installations, DC and AC networks, and industrial systems. Within its Electrical Safety Solutions unit, the company seeks a Thermo‑Mechanical R&D Engineer for a one‑year fixed‑term contract based in Satigny, Geneva. The engineer will lead the mechanical and thermal design of electro‑mechanical components used in medium‑voltage DC applications for railway and renewable‑energy sectors. Daily work includes running multiphysics simulations focused on cooling and heat‑transfer, performing finite‑element analyses, creating prototypes, and conducting validation tests that lead to certification and product launch. The role also covers overseeing industrialisation, implementing product improvements, and maintaining existing designs. Candidates must hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in mechanics, energy, or electro‑mechanical engineering and bring two to three years of experience designing electromagnetic devices. A proven track record of developing complex systems that combine thermal, mechanical, electrical and magnetic technologies, as well as a history of inventing advanced concepts and resolving critical issues, is required. Fluency in French or English, competence in 3D CAD modelling (Solidworks preferred), and solid knowledge of finite‑element analysis for thermal, multi‑physics, and stress problems are essential. Experience with testing and validation according to international standards is considered advantageous. Additional assets include familiarity with COMSOL, electro‑magnetism principles, and strong technical reporting skills.
