Forward Deployed Engineer

The Forward Deployed Engineer role at Enact focuses on moving the company's robotics technology from research labs into real‑world applications. Enact develops a full robotic stack that combines model architectures, data pipelines, sensors and actuators to create a proprioceptive system capable of whole‑body force awareness for industrial and other tasks. In this position you will act as the bridge between core research and customer deployment. Your daily work will involve taking robots that operate in a lab and adapting them so they deliver value to end users. You will handle end‑to‑end integration by collaborating directly with hardware and AI teams, ensuring the product fits operational environments, and you will lead on‑site installations, travel to customer locations, perform field debugging, and collect real‑world data for further product iteration. The role requires strong systems‑integration skills, demonstrated by a history of working with complex, foreign APIs and networks to connect Enact's stack with client environments. You must have proven hands‑on deployment experience, moving software and hardware from simulation or lab settings into unpredictable real‑world scenarios. Excellent problem‑solving abilities are essential for diagnosing multi‑layered failures without relying on existing documentation, and you need solid communication and collaboration skills to work closely with researchers and customers. Additional, non‑mandatory strengths are valued. Experience deploying deep‑learning models on edge devices such as Jetson Thor, and familiarity with Rust, C++, Python, Bazel, Nix and Linux, are advantageous. Physical capability to lift more than 20 kg and conversational fluency in German, French or Italian are also considered plus points.
