BIIE is a new interdisciplinary research institute focused on innovation in immune engineering, supported by Fondation Botnar. The institute brings together experts from various fields, including immunology, biomedicine, bioengineering, computational biology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, to tackle global health challenges and train future leaders in immune engineering. The main day-to-day responsibilities include executing monthly payroll cycles for all institute personnel, managing salary modifications, bonuses, and retroactive adjustments, and issuing monthly pay slips and annual Swiss tax certificates. The role also involves administering statutory social insurance contributions, handling registrations and mutations with social security bodies, and preparing mandatory statutory declarations. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will maintain employee master data, monitor leave management, support onboarding and offboarding workflows, and generate payroll analytics for leadership and finance teams. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Federal certificate in payroll or an equivalent professional credential, along with at least three years of Swiss payroll expertise, preferably in a research or life sciences context. A comprehensive understanding of Swiss labor law and the social insurance framework is essential. Proficiency in modern payroll software solutions, specifically Abacus, is required. Native or bilingual German proficiency is mandatory, with English skills being highly valued. The role demands exceptional precision, discretion, and ethical standards, as well as strong organizational skills to meet strict deadlines. Nice-to-have skills include prior exposure to international and multicultural working environments. The role offers a collaborative, international team environment at a growing institute in Basel, with a competitive compensation and benefits package. The workload can be structured flexibly to accommodate the candidate's schedule, and there is real potential for long-term engagement as BIIE continues to grow.
