Computer Vision Engineer, Applied ML

Ethon, a leader in Industrial AI, tackles the massive waste problem in manufacturing by delivering agentic workflows that boost cost efficiency, quality and production speed for global giants such as Siemens, Bosch, Lindt and Roche. As a Computer Vision Engineer, Applied ML you will sit at the crossroads of machine‑learning research and software development, turning cutting‑edge vision ideas into systems that run in real factories. Your daily work will involve conceiving, training, evaluating and debugging computer‑vision models, guiding them from early prototypes to robust, production‑ready deployments. You will assemble and maintain high‑quality data sets that keep model performance improving, apply the latest vision techniques, and integrate new methods whenever they add measurable value. The role also expects you to monitor model behavior in the field and iterate quickly based on real‑world feedback. To succeed you need a solid computer‑science background focused on computer vision and machine learning, whether earned through formal study or extensive practical experience. You must understand core ML and CV principles such as training dynamics, generalisation, bias‑variance trade‑offs, evaluation strategies and typical failure modes. Proven hands‑on experience setting up training loops, debugging convergence, tuning hyper‑parameters and properly assessing models on genuine vision tasks is required, as is having shipped a model or CV pipeline that reached real users beyond a research prototype. Strong spoken and written English and a drive to thrive in a fast‑moving environment complete the mandatory profile. Additional assets include expertise in visual quality, defect or anomaly detection, familiarity with deployment tools like ONNX and basic MLOps practices, and experience visualising model internals for explainability. The position is based in Ethon’s central Zürich office, with a minimum three‑day‑a‑week on‑site schedule to solve the toughest problems together. Employees benefit from rapid career progression, flexible schedules, competitive pay with stock options, vacation bonuses, parental leave flexibility, a learning budget and a culture that values diversity and direct access to founders.
