AI Engineering Consultant (Zurich, Switzerland)

The role of AI Engineering Consultant at D ONE involves advising clients on the design and implementation of production-grade AI solutions. D ONE is a consultancy firm specializing in data, AI, and transformation, helping organizations align their strategies with data-driven solutions. The main day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing business and technical requirements to identify AI use cases with clear business value. The consultant will design and implement AI solutions such as RAG systems, AI agents, and LLM-powered applications, collaborating closely with client and project teams. Additionally, the role involves setting up evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails to ensure AI solutions are measurable, reliable, and safe. Integration of these solutions into existing data platforms, applications, and business processes is also a key task. The consultant will contribute to data and AI initiatives across various domains, including cloud architecture, data engineering, data science, and AI governance. Communication of recommendations, insights, and results to senior stakeholders and management is another crucial aspect of the role. To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with an MSc or PhD being strongly preferred. Domain knowledge in at least one industry is required, along with a highly analytical and structured mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory, with German being strongly preferred. Candidates should have 3+ years of proven experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or data science, including at least one AI or ML solution taken into production. Hands-on experience building and evaluating LLM-based applications is essential, as is strong proficiency in Python and software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, testing, CI/CD, and version control. Solid SQL skills are also required. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with orchestration libraries such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and with vector stores such as pgvector, Qdrant, Chroma, or FAISS. Experience with MLOps/LLMOps practices and responsible AI principles is beneficial. The role is based in Zurich, offering an uncomplicated and low-noise environment.
