Electrical Engineer - Hatteras Yachts

The position is an Electrical Engineer for Hatteras Yachts, a line within White River Marine Group, which operates under the Bass Pro Shops family—a leading outdoor, retail and conservation organization that also runs boat brands and a wilderness resort. The engineer will be responsible for all electrical and air‑conditioning systems on 45‑plus‑foot sport‑fishing yachts, supporting both new designs and ongoing builds. Daily work involves backing the manufacturing of electrical, refrigeration and climate‑control equipment, partnering with at least two other electrical engineers to create system designs, documentation, load calculations and AC/DC layouts. The role also requires close coordination with other engineering disciplines, as well as communication with external suppliers to define, quote and install new or upgraded components. Ensuring that every system meets professional standards and ABYC safety rules—particularly ground‑fault and galvanic criteria—is a core duty, alongside any additional tasks assigned by management. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and bring at least three years of experience in boat or yacht construction. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and CAD tools such as MicroStation and Creo is required, as is a track record of troubleshooting electrical issues and conducting root‑cause analysis. The job is performed primarily at a workstation with occasional walking and standing, and it does not involve travel. The role offers a full‑time benefits package that includes retail discounts, medical, dental and vision coverage, health‑savings and flexible‑spending accounts, voluntary benefits, a 401(k) plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, plus contributions to the Bass Pro Cares Fund. Bass Pro Shops emphasizes equal‑opportunity hiring and provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
