Senior CPU Compiler Performance Engineer

NVIDIA is seeking a senior CPU Compiler Performance Engineer to join its compiler organization, which builds the software that unlocks the power of NVIDIA’s CPUs for the world’s largest AI and high‑performance computing markets. The team’s work touches every CPU, GPU and compute unit that NVIDIA produces, and the role involves designing compiler and hardware‑software solutions that advance next‑generation compute. In this position you will collaborate with a globally distributed partner group to understand, modify and enhance NVIDIA’s CPU compiler stack. Daily tasks include dissecting AI workloads to drive improvements in both new hardware and the compiler toolchain, adding new features and optimization techniques for NVIDIA CPUs, and engaging with upstream and open‑source communities. You will also develop high‑performance compiler software and contribute to the broader AI, HPC and data‑center technology ecosystem. The minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s, master’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, together with at least eight years of professional work. Candidates must have hands‑on experience in compiler development or a comparable academic project, familiarity with language front‑ends, optimization passes and code generation, strong C++ coding ability, and solid CPU architecture knowledge coupled with low‑level performance analysis and pre‑silicon co‑design experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required. Preferred expertise includes workload analysis that can influence hardware, software, libraries and compilers, deep knowledge of architectures such as Arm (AArch32/AArch64), RISC‑V, x86_64, PowerPC or DSPs, and contributions to GCC, LLVM or MLIR. Experience with AI algorithms, scientific HPC applications, and a history of open‑source compiler contributions are valued.
