Global Trade Compliance Manager

Join Tecan’s Strategic Supply Chain Management unit in Nänikon, Zürich as the Global Trade Compliance Manager. In this senior position you will steer the company’s adherence to worldwide trade legislation, support strategic projects and keep senior leaders apprised of emerging compliance obligations. Your everyday work will involve guaranteeing that every import and export transaction follows the applicable rules, spotting and neutralising potential risks that could cause customs delays or breaches, and refining the documentation workflow. You will keep internal policies and licences current, nurture strong cross‑border relationships, and advise new market entries, product launches and novel business models to ensure they grow within a safe regulatory framework. The role also calls for championing an ethical compliance mindset, streamlining customs procedures and pushing forward digital solutions, while leading and developing a team of Trade Compliance Specialists to meet departmental and corporate targets. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s qualification in Business Economy, International Trade Law or a comparable field, with a master’s degree viewed favorably. You bring more than five years of hands‑on experience in trade compliance, import/export or customs, and possess deep knowledge of regulations such as the EAR, customs codes, sanctions and embargoes. At least two years of documented people‑management experience is required, together with a recognised certification like Certified Customs Specialist or Certified Export Specialist. Proficiency in master‑data handling – including COO, HS‑code classification and preference calculations – is essential, as is fluency in both English and German. Strong analytical, strategic and communication abilities, a detail‑oriented, process‑driven approach, and comfort working independently and collaboratively in a multicultural setting are also expected. Technical know‑how in SAP, GTS and the Microsoft Office suite is a must.
