With over 1700 experts across 13 locations in six countries, Beyond Gravity develops critical products for satellites and launch vehicles, contributing to advancements both in space and on Earth. The Senior Materials & Processes Engineer will join a dynamic team of eight engineers in Zürich. The team is responsible for developing satellite structures and mechanisms, which are manufactured on-site and delivered to international customers. The role involves working with a variety of materials, manufacturing technologies, and aerospace systems. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical development of products, processes, and technologies. Your main responsibilities will include selecting, developing, qualifying, and optimizing materials and manufacturing processes for components and assemblies. You will also define, plan, coordinate, evaluate, and document development, characterization, verification, and qualification tests. Additionally, you will support various departments, such as procurement, production, and quality, in introducing new processes and handling non-conformances. You will also take on technical responsibilities for complex M&P topics, lead development and industrialization projects, and manage costs, schedules, and technical risks. To excel in this role, you must have a Master's degree in Material Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar materials and processes environment, preferably in aerospace, aviation, or another high-tech industry, is required. Fluency in German (C1 level) and English is essential, particularly for creating and maintaining production and manufacturing documentation. Practical knowledge in metallic materials, CFRP/composite materials, surface treatments, and adhesives is also necessary. Experience in qualifying and industrializing materials and processes, as well as collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, is crucial. Additionally, the ability to analyze technical issues, communicate effectively, and make fact-based decisions is important. Nice-to-have skills include experience with the European Space Agency (ESA). The role offers the opportunity to work in an international environment, contribute to high-tech products that go into space, and be part of a highly specialized and motivated team. The company values a hands-on approach and considers improvement suggestions seriously. Benefits include attractive employment conditions, contributions to public transportation, various training and development opportunities, fully paid parental leave, flexible and mobile work arrangements, and at least five weeks of vacation with the possibility of earning additional days.
