Senior Propulsion Engineer (SRM)

Destinus is a defense‑focused aerospace company that builds advanced unmanned aerial vehicles for government and military customers worldwide. As a Senior Propulsion Engineer you will own the design and development of rocket motors and related pyrotechnic components, guiding them from early concept through to full certification while meeting demanding performance specifications. Your daily work will involve creating and refining motor designs, running detailed performance analyses, and producing technical reports, qualification matrices, and compliance documentation that follow military and aerospace standards. You will also build and improve software tools for motor sizing, thermal‑protection‑system calculations, and overall performance estimation. Close collaboration with hardware designers will ensure that insulation, igniters, and other subsystems are ready for certification, while you support failure investigations, root‑cause studies, and updates to test procedures to keep the program on track. The position requires a master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or propulsion engineering and at least four to five years of hands‑on experience in rocket‑motor development. You must possess deep expertise in motor and thermal‑protection‑system design, be comfortable coding and creating analysis tools, and have a proven ability to interpret data, write clear test reports, and maintain rigorous compliance records. Experience with static firing tests, propellant handling, and motor integration is essential, as is the willingness to travel up to twenty percent of the time to Destinus sites in Switzerland. Additional assets include prior work qualifying motors or safe‑arm devices to NATO standards, familiarity with pressure‑vessel design and combustion analysis, and the ability to operate across mechanical, thermal, materials, and systems disciplines.
