The Robotics Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving the industrialization and manufacturing engineering processes for the Dexter surgical robot and its accessories. The company specializes in developing advanced medical technology, particularly in the field of robotic surgery. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth transition of the Dexter robot from development to production, focusing on mechanical and mechatronic sustaining engineering, manufacturing testing, and root-cause analysis of manufacturing issues. The main day-to-day responsibilities include acting as the manufacturing link between the Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), supply chain, quality, and R&D (HQ), and supporting the commercial ramp-up of Dexter production. This involves performing level-2 production troubleshooting and mechanical root-cause analysis on complex electromechanical assemblies. The engineer will also initiate and execute Change Requests and associated Design Transfers within the regulated Quality Management System (QMS), assessing the impact on technical and quality aspects. Additionally, the role involves editing SolidWorks drawings, assemblies, and BOMs to reflect manufacturing-level changes and submitting these for review and approval. To excel in this role, the candidate must have an MSc or BSc in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, along with 3–6 years of experience in medical device manufacturing, specifically in Class II devices. Hands-on experience with complex electromechanical assemblies in production is essential. The candidate should also have a working knowledge of ISO 13485 and demonstrated experience in change-control execution. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, as the role involves significant travel, up to 60%, within German-speaking Switzerland and broader Europe. Nice-to-have skills include experience at a CMO or managing production at a sub-contractor site, as well as a background in surgical robotics, motion systems, or implantable devices. Design transfer ownership on a Class IIb or III device is also a strong plus. The role is based in a dynamic, innovative environment with cutting-edge medical technology, offering a high degree of autonomy and flexibility. The company provides a structured onboarding program and training to ensure a confident start. What the role asks for: - MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. - 3–6 years of experience in the manufacture of medical devices (Class II). - Practical experience with complex electromechanical assemblies in production. - Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and proven experience in performing change controls. - Fluently in English, spoken and written. - Willingness to travel, up to 60% (German-speaking Switzerland and further Europe).
