The Specialist, Bioeconomy Initiative role at the World Economic Forum involves supporting the Bioeconomy Initiative by coordinating various workstreams and managing stakeholder engagement. The Bioeconomy Initiative aims to build public trust, accelerate commercial adoption, and strengthen policy conditions in the bioeconomy sector. The main day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating the global Bioeconomy Community, managing stakeholder relationships, and developing communications materials. The Specialist will also facilitate stakeholder consultations, conduct policy research, and support the development of policy tools and frameworks. Additionally, the role involves contributing to flagship reports, supporting regional deep dives, and coordinating multistakeholder workshops and consultations across different geographies. To qualify for this role, candidates must have an academic background in life sciences, bioengineering, biotechnology, bioeconomy, public policy, economics, business, or a related discipline. A minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in biotechnology, bioeconomy, biomanufacturing, innovation policy, sustainability, consulting, international organizations, or a related field is required. Proficiency in English is essential, with additional languages being an advantage. Familiarity with commercialization pathways for biotechnology and bio-based innovation, as well as understanding of policy development, regulation, standards, or innovation ecosystems, is also necessary. Nice-to-have skills include experience working in multistakeholder environments and the ability to build relationships across different sectors and cultures. The role is based in a fast-paced, international, and multidisciplinary environment, offering the opportunity to work with a global team dedicated to addressing complex global issues. The position is temporary, from November 2026 to May 2029, and is based in Geneva, with additional offices in New York, San Francisco, Beijing, and Tokyo.
