The role of Development Engineer - Automation and Control at VAT Group involves working on advanced vacuum solutions, particularly for the semiconductor industry. The main day-to-day responsibilities include defining and implementing automation systems for R&D test rigs and laboratory systems. This involves developing data acquisition and experiment automation functions to test gas sensing and control technology, as well as creating advanced control algorithms for high-performance gas control systems. The role also requires conducting and documenting experiments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and occasionally providing on-site support for newly developed applications or products at customer sites. To qualify for this position, candidates must have an Engineering Degree (MSc or PhD) in mechanical or electrical engineering, control engineering, mechatronics, or a similar field. Strong skills and knowledge in control system theory and industrial automation are essential, along with at least 3 years of industry experience in designing and implementing automated testing setups. Proficiency in PLC programming, such as Beckhoff or Siemens, and experience with industrial communication protocols are also required. Additionally, programming skills in Matlab Simulink or Python are necessary. Nice-to-have skills include experience in vacuum technology or semiconductors, as well as system engineering knowledge.
