Software Developer - Beam Optics (BE-ABP-LNO-2026-132-GRAP)

CERN’s Linear and Non‑Linear Optics Section within the Accelerator and Beam Physics Group is looking for a Software Developer to support the High‑Luminosity LHC programme. The position focuses on creating and refining software that enables accurate beam‑optics measurements and corrections, directly contributing to the collider’s safe and high‑performance operation. The day‑to‑day work involves sustaining and expanding the core Optics Measurement and Correction framework, investigating new coding approaches to boost measurement efficiency, and updating model‑building and correction algorithms with the latest simulation tools. You will also prototype automation for key analysis steps, design graphical interfaces for use in the CERN Control Centre, and take part in analysing optics data gathered during accelerator runs. Candidates must have a solid background in programming and software design, especially in Python, and be comfortable with version‑control platforms such as GitHub.
