BASEL OFFICE - Nautical Education Manager

Viking, a worldwide pioneer of experience‑focused travel operating more than a hundred vessels on rivers, oceans and all continents, is looking for a Nautical Education Manager to join its Basel office. The role sits under the Director of Nautical Compliance and will shape the learning journey for crew members across the entire river fleet, ensuring that training meets safety, operational and regulatory standards. Each year the manager will craft and refresh curricula for new hires, repeaters, rank‑advancement and season‑opening programmes, delivering sessions in classrooms, aboard ships and through virtual platforms. Responsibilities include steering the yearly training schedule, allocating instructors, handling logistics and supervising the Nautical Training Administrators team. Collaboration with Nautical Operations, Learning & Development, subject‑matter experts and external providers is essential to produce high‑quality, engaging learning experiences and to monitor completion rates and effectiveness through the LMS. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Learning and Development, Psychology, Education or a related discipline, plus proven ability to design, build and present learning solutions in a professional setting. Candidates must demonstrate strong facilitation skills for face‑to‑face, online or blended formats, and be adept at turning technical content into learner‑centred material. Leadership experience, excellent planning and stakeholder‑management abilities, and a proactive, collaborative mindset are mandatory. Fluency in English is required; German or French is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Articulate 360 and LMS tools, and willingness to travel internationally up to 30 % are also needed. The role is open to individuals eligible to work in Switzerland or holding a valid permit.
