CERN is offering a Technical Studentship in Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the 2027‑1 period, giving a university learner the chance to work within the world‑renowned laboratory that advances particle physics and related technologies. The position places the student in a setting where practical training and scientific inquiry are intertwined, allowing direct involvement in the institute’s engineering activities. During the placement the student will support senior engineers, technicians and researchers, taking part in tasks such as fitting, testing and upkeep of electrical and electronic installations. Daily work is performed under close guidance, with the expectation to contribute ideas and cooperate with colleagues from many disciplines and nationalities. Interaction with an international team is a core element, fostering exchange of knowledge while the student gains real‑world experience. Applicants must be enrolled full‑time in a degree program covering electrical engineering, electronics or a closely related subject, and have already completed at least eighteen months of study. The university should require or encourage a practical training segment. Candidates need a solid grasp of the basic concepts of their field, a curious and precise mindset, and a proactive approach to learning. Effective communication in English or French and the ability to function well in a multicultural environment are essential, as is citizenship of a CERN Member or Associate Member State (with certain exclusions). PhD holders are not eligible. The role is fully onsite in Geneva, runs 40 hours per week for a term of four to twelve months starting 1 April 2027, and provides a tax‑free monthly stipend of 3 486 CHF together with 30 days of paid leave, a two‑week annual shutdown, health‑insurance coverage and possible travel and family allowances. The environment is highly collaborative, diverse and focused on cutting‑edge research, offering a unique platform for a budding engineer to develop skills while contributing to groundbreaking projects.
