Powertrain Expert (m/f/d)

WinGD, a historic Swiss firm that designs two‑stroke marine engines, is looking for a Powertrain Expert to join its Winterthur headquarters. The position focuses on creating advanced power‑train elements that help the shipping sector move toward greener operations, contributing directly to the company’s long‑standing reputation for engineering excellence. The daily work involves conceiving and detailing cutting‑edge components such as variable compression mechanisms, drive units, gear sets and plain bearings. Tasks also include adapting these systems for retrofitting onto existing engines, providing high‑quality assistance to the service division, and engineering solutions that balance low production cost with strong customer approval. When failures occur, the role requires conducting root‑cause investigations and devising repair strategies, as well as supporting licensees with alternative designs and handling non‑conformity documentation. Applicants must hold a university degree in mechanical engineering (B.Sc., M.Sc., Dipl.-Ing. or comparable). Proven ability to design and evaluate mechanical parts under load is essential, together with solid experience using a CAD package—NX is preferred—and finite‑element analysis tools, notably ANSYS Workbench. Familiarity with AVL EXCITE for fluid dynamics and KISSsoft for gear calculations is advantageous. Fluency in English is required; German language skills are a plus. The ideal candidate works autonomously, is driven by results, and communicates clearly in both spoken and written form.
