Software Engineer in Test, Robotics Middleware & Systems - Humanoid (human)

The position of Software Engineer in Test, Robotics Middleware & Systems – Humanoid places you within the Humanoid 4NE1 team, a group dedicated to creating advanced humanoid robots. Your work will focus on guaranteeing that the software driving these machines is reliable, performant and safe for real‑world operation. Each day you will be responsible for designing and maintaining a scalable test infrastructure, building automation frameworks and defining validation strategies that span the entire robotics stack—from low‑level embedded devices to high‑level perception, motion control and autonomous behavior. Collaboration with software, middleware, perception and robotics developers is essential as you create robust testing pipelines, uncover failure modes, and write code that improves system robustness and developer productivity across the 4NE1 platform. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics or a related discipline, together with solid software‑engineering fundamentals. You must have hands‑on experience constructing automated test systems for distributed or robotic software, strong debugging and systems‑level thinking, and be proficient in C++ and Python. Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, unit through end‑to‑end testing methods, ROS 2 or DDS middleware, and a deep grasp of sensor integration, calibration, synchronization, state estimation and motion‑control concepts are mandatory. Experience building CI/CD pipelines, working in Linux environments, and using Git and modern development practices is also required. Additional expertise that would be advantageous includes work with perception hardware such as cameras, LiDAR or IMUs, validation of multi‑sensor synchronization, and use of simulators like Isaac Sim, Gazebo or MuJoCo. Knowledge of hardware‑in‑the‑loop or software‑in‑the‑loop testing, real‑time communication protocols (EtherCAT, CAN, DDS, OPC‑UA), performance and stress testing, cloud‑based test infrastructure, and safety‑related validation standards would further strengthen your candidacy.
